[OOC: Roseanne's journal is completely private.]

As strange as it seems, it is quite good to be back at Cheshire. I didn't think I'd miss it. To be honest, I don’t even know what I’ve missed about it. My colleagues seem completely inadequate most of the time, and my patients tend to make my head spin with their nonsense. But still, it feels good to be back.

I took quite some time for myself, spending most of it going from one hospital to another after speaking with Directors. I told them how interested I was in getting a feel for what other establishments were like, to see how patients were treated and how the staff reacted to some of the more…eccentric patients residing there. It was interesting, to say the least. Some of them were rather harsh, resorting to straight jackets for even the slightest of outbursts. I swear, if I took that approach, Charity and Martin would be bound for the rest of their days here at Cheshire. I don’t know what I’m going to do if those two can’t stop attacking each other. Maybe if the orderlies did their bloody job, and kept them away from one another like I specifically instructed after the first incident, this wouldn’t be that big of a bloody problem. Perhaps their other doctor can think of more suitable ways of keeping them apart, but I highly doubt it.

Honestly, I’m stunned that the hospital has allowed such an inexperienced Doctor to handle these cases. I personally I don’t think he has what it takes to deal with both of them. It doesn’t help that his methods are almost everything I’m against. I don’t believe it’s necessary to befriend a patient. It seems unprofessional, and in some cases, it can cause confusion. I’m all for sitting down and talking with my patients, since I must know what’s going on inside of their heads before I can do much to help them, but there’s a line I am not willing to cross.

They can say what they’d like about me, staff and patients alike. I’m not here to win a popularity contest. I do my best to relate to my patients, but I refuse to coddle them.

Unlike some people around here.
